SUMMARY
The Central Sterile Technician II performs decontamination, preparation, assembly, sterilization and distribution of surgical, diagnostic and clinical instrumentation and reusable medical devices in accordance with HSPC (formally known as IAHCSMM) or CBSPD, AAMI, AORN, JCHO requirements and recommendations. The CS2 will follow all Central Sterile policies and standard operating procedures. The CS2 will serve as a resource for preceptorship. The CS2 may also aid with process/quality improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certificate of completion from an Accredited Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology Program or 2 years of work related experience in lieu of certificate program.
  • Certification in SPD from HSPA (formally known as IAHCSMM) or CBSPD within 6 months of hire

  • Certified as a Sterile Processing Technician or Certified Operating Room Technician
  • Knowledge of sterilization supplies, equipment and instruments
  • Knowledge of organizing, containing, and transporting items of varying compounds, textures or quantities
  • Knowledge of transporting and disposing of hazardous materials and sharp objects according to hospital procedures
  • Knowledge of sterilization procedures of various equipment and instruments
  • Knowledge of wrapping and repackaging sterilized instruments
  • Skill in using sterilization equipment and instruments
  • Skill in arranging instruments on surgical trays
  • Skill in following written instructions and performing multiple tasks
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others
  • Basic computer skills
