Student Financial Aid

Job Description

The Financial Aid Advisor role is an integral part of the Student Financial Aid office. This position synthesizes information from all financial aid areas and provides excellent customer service to students and their families. This fast-paced environment allows multiple training opportunities as well as professional growth.

Financial Aid Advisors must be flexible and enjoy helping students and families navigate the financial aid process, working together on a team, and completing various tasks each day.

- Advise students and families on financial aid eligibility requirements for federal, state, and institutional aid programs
- Communicate with students and parents in person, on the phone, and through e-mail
- Assist students with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Discuss scholarship and grant renewal criteria
- Counsel students and parents on Satisfactory Academic Progress, the Special -Circumstances process, and Verification
- Advise students on study abroad costs and trip planning
- Assist students with Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling
- Counsel students on loan debt, repayments plans, and loan consolidation
- Perform outreach activities, including supervising an information table at events, high school presentations, and departmental presentations
- Represent Student Financial Aid within the state, regional, and national financial aid organizations
- Other duties as assigned

Shift

40 hours/week; Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Occasional weekends and evenings are possible

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Grade: GGS 007
University Title: Student Support Specialist II
