The Assistant Dean of Students/Director Student Conduct provides strategic leadership and is responsible for the operational management and results of the Department of Student Conduct. This position directs the long-range strategic planning, operations, and administrative activities of the department. Analyzes the effectiveness of and establishes future direction for functional policies and programs.

Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Reviews and revises student conduct policies and processes as needed in accordance with current trends and laws.
- Responsible for the strategic alignment, long-term planning, and management oversight of the Department of Student Conduct.
- Serves as the university conduct hearing officer that is responsible for investigating both individual and student organization potential violations of the student code of conduct.
- Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy and policies of the department.
- Provides in-services training and facilitates meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, and supporting staff. Serves as a resource to staff, faculty, students, and campus community.
- Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
- Responsible for ensuring that all programs and activities comply with university, state, and federal regulations.
- Performs all admissions clearances for applicants who have prior conduct, law or academic infractions according to our internal processes and Board of Governors' rules.
- Oversees all Dean's certifications for students who are applying to graduate, professional agencies, and programs.
- Directs and supervises the efforts of staff and provides guidance regarding problem solving and identifying appropriate and available services for students.
- Develops, administers and analyzes continuous assessment of programs. Prepares and evaluates statistical, analytical, and narrative reports to be used for decision making and program improvement.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the University. Oversees communications, promotions, and public relations for the department to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Formulates and administers the annual operating budget. With appropriate approval, may procure agreements for materials and services.
- Manages the creation, handling, and storage of all records related to student conduct case management.
Other Duties:
- Participates in University committees as assigned.
- Attends student events every semester and be an involved presence on campus in representing the dean of students' office.
- Serves as the advisor to the student government judicial branch committee for grievance cases.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Full-time experience in student conduct on a mid to large sized residential university campus.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution Student Personnel/Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a closely related field.
- Six years of experience in managing a large caseload of major cases including conduct and academic integrity cases resulting in suspension or expulsion.
- Demonstrated leadership in student conduct administration.
- Experience interpreting the Clery Act, ADA, VAWA, Title IX, 1st amendment and FERPA in relation to Student Affairs.
- Experience in admissions clearance processes.
- Experience in writing policies governing student conduct.
