POSITION SUMMARY: Person in this position will serve as a member of the capital development team. The person in this position will be responsible for proposal development for capital projects, funder research, and collaborating with the capital development team. Essential Job Functions include those listed below: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Crafts detailed proposals to secure grants from foundations, government agencies, or corporate sponsors, tailoring proposals to support capital development goals.
- Researches and identifies potential grant and other funding opportunities aligned with the non-profit's capital campaign goals.
- Researches funders that support construction, renovation, real estate acquisition, or other capital needs.
- Facilitates development of project budgets and justifications, demonstrating how the funds will be allocated for physical assets, construction, renovation, or equipment.
- Works closely with FitzHouse staff to align the grant proposals with broader capital funding goals.
- Ensures proposals meet funder requirements and preparing post-award reports showing how the grant is utilized for project milestones.
- Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Experience in identifying and onboarding new funding sources.
- Proven track record of successful proposal writing and securing funding for large-scale projects.
- Strong research skills with the ability to identify and engage potential funders.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Must be able to develop compelling funding requests.
- Technical skills necessary to submit funding requests, complete electronic forms, use online research services, and maintain a grant management system.
- Ability to generate written content that is original or adapted from previous work.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
- Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a successful criminal background check.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare's vehicle insurance is required.
- During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.
- CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test[MS1].
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years or more of experience in funding acquisition for capital projects or a related role is required
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Communications, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is required.
- equivalent experience and education combined preferred.
- Previous proven experience may be substituted for college-level education.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Relevant certifications such as Grant Professional Certification, Certified Fund Raising Professional, or Certified Housing Finance Professional are preferred at time of hire; Preference will be given to those candidates who are currently Certified
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Outdoor activities may be required.

- Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files).
Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations using approved physical de-escalation techniques.
- Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication.
- Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee's essential job functions and to observe client behavior and activities in and out of the facility.
- The normal work routine involves no exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues. However, exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee.
