The NRG Consumer MBA internship provides participants with opportunities to work with NRG's senior leaders to explore career options and develop technical, professional, and decision-making skills while contributing to specific business objectives. Participants will also have the opportunity to assess their own interests while gaining valuable exposure to NRG's culture and values.

The NRG Consumer MBA internship is a 10-week program comprised of MBA-level project work for a team within NRG Consumer (our retail brands). We are looking for high-potential, strategic-minded, and adaptable first year MBA students that can add value while building their business acumen and professional skills in a fast-paced environment. Successful interns may be invited to join our full-time MBA Rotational Program upon graduation.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work will consist of both project-based initiatives as well as day-to-day production support tasks that may include operational improvements, launching/managing marketing initiatives, business development, or developing a business strategy
  • May analyze the company, market, and competitive data and consult on business initiatives and strategies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • May work across the following functions in NRG Consumer's retail brands:
    • Go-To-Market Strategy & Planning
    • Product Development & Execution
    • Product Management
    • Pricing & Analytics
    • Business Planning
    • Customer Success
    • Customer Experience
    • Innovation
    • Brand Marketing & Creative

Working Conditions

  • Open office environment
  • Based on placement in the program, the location and schedule of your work week will be based on business needs in one of the following conditions:
    • Hybrid work schedule; a combination of remote work 1-2 days per week, and in office 3-4 days per week

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be on track to graduate with an MBA degree in the 2025/2026 academic year; individuals in part-time MBA programs are ineligible
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in an office environment
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to and work well with diverse sets of people in various types of situations
  • Must possess effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate majors in Business, Marketing, Finance or Engineering
  • Previous work experience in the electricity/utility industry
  • Previous experience holding leadership positions within the corporate environment or extra-curricular, community or university sponsored organizations
