TSC is seeking a Director, Supply Chain Logistics (Hybrid) based in the DC Metro area. The Director of Supply Chain Logistics is responsible for overseeing the overall strategy and execution of the company's logistics, transportation, inventory management, property management, and facilities operations. This role ensures that all logistics functions align with corporate objectives and drive operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance across the organization. The Director, Supply Chain Logistics directly manages and provides guidance to the Facilities Manager, Inventory and Property Manager, and Transportation Manager, ensuring a seamless integration of these departments. This role can be partially remote while being onsite at our Crystal City, VA office for meetings as needed. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Vision:
- Develop and lead the company's overall logistics strategy, aligning transportation, inventory, property, and facilities management with the broader corporate objectives.
- Ensure the logistics function supports company growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
- Provide leadership for long-term planning of logistics, optimizing resources across the supply chain, transportation, and facilities to achieve strategic goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with corporate and divisional stakeholders to ensure logistics operations support company-wide objectives, including production, procurement, sales, trade compliance, and customer service.
- Align logistics initiatives with other departments, including IT, HR, and Finance, to optimize performance and support enterprise-level goals.
Oversight of Key Divisions:
- Facilities Manager: Manages the company's physical infrastructure, facilities, and real estate in alignment with the organization's operational and safety requirements. Provide strategic direction for the management of leases, facilities maintenance, vendor relationships, and risk mitigation.
- Inventory and Property Manager: Strategic planning and execution of inventory management, property control, asset lifecycle management, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- Transportation Manager: Sets transportation and distribution strategies that optimize logistics, cost control, vendor management, and regulatory compliance, ensuring efficient inbound and outbound movement of goods.
Logistics Performance and Innovation:
- Ensure the integration of data analytics, automation, and technology to drive improvements in logistics operations, transportation, inventory control, and facilities management.
- Identify and implement innovations in logistics processes, including sustainable practices, lean inventory, and digital transformation.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure all logistics functions comply with local, federal, and international laws and regulations, including transportation, safety, environmental, and labor standards.
- Develop and execute strategies to mitigate risks in transportation, inventory management, and property operations, including disaster recovery, emergency preparedness, and safety protocols.
Financial Oversight and Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the overall logistics budget, ensuring effective resource allocation across transportation, inventory, property, and facilities operations.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, operational efficiencies, and process improvements through better resource utilization and vendor contract negotiations.
- Oversee financial reporting and tracking of logistics operations, ensuring cost control while meeting operational objectives.
Vendor and Partnership Management:
- Manage relationships with key logistics vendors, transportation providers, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
- Negotiate high-value contracts with vendors, ensuring favorable terms, cost savings, and service level agreements (SLAs).
Talent Development and Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior managers and directors within the logistics department, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Build high-performing teams across transportation, inventory, property, and facilities divisions, ensuring they have the skills and support needed to achieve organizational objectives.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance of logistics operations across divisions.
- Regularly report to executive leadership on logistics performance, highlighting successes, areas for improvement, and strategic initiatives.
Trade Compliance
- Monitor and conduct business risk assessments related to developing sanctions and export controls. Coordinate with Trade Compliance to review updated export controls and newly designated parties under applicable sanctions.
- Maintain, track, and manage shipments associated with export licenses and related imports, ensuring all shipments comply with applicable international trade laws and regulations.
- Maintain record keeping requirements according 15 CFR Part *762 (EAR) & 22 CFR Part *122(ITAR) for controlled activities, for audit purposes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field and 15 or more years in logistics management, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple logistics functions (e.g., transportation, inventory management, facilities)
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Proficient understanding of export control laws, including but not limited to International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) and dual use items.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
- Hands-on experience in logistics software, including AES and OCR EASE
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, financial management, vendor negotiation, logistics technology integration, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
