FORSEE Fellow (USFS and USAID summer fellowship)

Background:

The U.S. Forest Service Office of International Programs (USFS/IP), in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA), is thrilled to announce the second U.S. Forest Service Overseas Environmental Experience Faculty Fellowship (FORSEE). This 3-month, part-time hybrid program is designed to cultivate the next generation of international development professionals from underrepresented groups in the academic sector.

Position Description:

Are you a faculty member at a college or university in the United States passionate about environmental issues and global engagement? Do you dream of expanding your horizons, building impactful partnerships, and inspiring your students with real-world experiences? If so, FORSEE is for you!

This immersive fellowship offers:



  • Hands-on experience: Engage in community-based conservation projects through study and exchange visits (1 visit in the U.S. and 1 visit overseas).
  • Professional development: Attend virtual webinars, one-on-one coaching sessions, and workshops on topics like strategic influencing, citizen science,, DEIA, compassionate listening, and leadership.
  • Global network: Build lasting connections with academics, practitioners, and international development personnel.
  • Personal growth: Develop a learning agenda tailored to your professional goals and teaching interests.
  • Impactful contribution: Share your newfound knowledge and insights with students, colleagues, and your home institution.


Qualifications:



  • U.S. citizens, U.S. Nationals, or those who have legal permission to work in the U.S.
  • Faculty member at a U.S. college or university in any field of study.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in your field and broader community.
  • Strong passion for environmental issues and international development.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and openness to new experiences, countries, cultures, and travel to remote locations.
  • Capacity to commit to a 3-month program with up to 40% time commitment.
