Your Opportunity
The Grain Elevator Manager directs and coordinates activities at elevator including profitability, customer service, grain origination and merchandising and plant and administrative and position reporting operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Core Responsibilities
- Aggressively originates grain from local farmers by building relationships and offering exceptional customer service which includes minimizing arriving truck waiting time to the greatest extent possible.
- Inspects, grades and weighs products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of storage use, drier operation, blending capacity, and oversees quality control and assurance.
- Records and communicates cash and contract grain purchases and risk position to MB Ingredient Procurement.
- Measures, monitors, and manages inventory in order to objectively report and to minimize inventory shrink.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations including implementing an effective injury prevention system (IPS).
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of elevator, and/or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials and facility for preventative maintenance.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Performs activities of workers supervised.
- Responsible for following all environmental laws and procedures to which Murphy-Brown LLC subscribes.
- Reads and understands the company's emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in Business Administration, Agricultural Business, or related field, and 2+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum of 2+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
- Good oral and written communication skills for dealing with outside vendors as well as other Smithfield Hog Production employees.
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as MS Word and Excel
- Ability to work under adverse conditions (dust, extreme heat and cold etc.) Supervisory experience preferred
- Millwright experience preferred
- Grain handling experienced preferred
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
