A Brief Overview
The Leave and Accommodation Analyst is a subject matter expert who provides consultative support for internal and external partners on leave of absence and accommodation processes. They resolve escalated leave situations and lead the interactive process to find reasonable accommodations under the ADA or other applicable laws. This individual will advise on best practices and compliance practices related to federal, state and local leave and accommodation laws. In addition, this role will lead return to work efforts to get associates back to work at the earliest appropriate time consistent with an individual's strengths, abilities, capabilities and limitations. They will work closely with leaders to identify new projects to build effective plans to lower leave durations and costs by analyzing data trends.

What you will do

  • Consults vendors and internal partners on policies, process steps, leave management best practices, leave pay discrepancies, associate feedback, and escalated case review. Serves as subject matter expert on concerns related to the leave management process. Conducts research and resolves escalated cases within specified service level agreements while adhering to company policy and in compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws. Audits associate status and PTO application while on leave. Reviews leave of absence and accommodation denials to determine what situations require a second and final request for required information and which situations will need reviewed for termination of employment based on Safelite policies.

  • Owns the review and recommendation of leave and at work accommodations. This includes transitional work assignments or long-term accommodations based on restrictions and available work. Actively engages with the associates, leaders, internal partners, and external partners during the ADAAA interactive process, including understanding and explaining reasonable accommodation, undue hardship, and the reassignment process. Provides proficient and cost-effective accommodation recommendations that both support the associate and the business. Educates and influences internal partners to support a final determination of reasonable accommodations.

  • Manages the return-to-work process for associates returning to work from a leave of absence which includes timely communication of return to work, identifying resources needed for a successful return to work, and timely updating their status in the system.

  • Actively identifies points of confusion or lack of knowledge with leave of absence or accommodations. Recommends program or plan enhancements that positively impact the efficiency and quality of service delivery and satisfaction in the leave experience. Identifies, coordinates, and assists with creating internal training materials, communications and documents related to leave and accommodation management.

  • Produce and manage reporting metrics and analytics for leave cases.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience Required

  • 3-5 years Relevant experience Required

  • Knowledge of federal and state leave laws, specifically FMLA, ADAAA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the knowledge of interplay between FMLA, ADAAA and other leave laws. (High proficiency)

  • Demonstrated experience with more complex long term leave accommodations/transition work assignments with an ability to independently research issues and make effective recommendations using critical thinking skills. (High proficiency)

  • Provides excellent employee experience throughout the LOA cycle by providing correspondence that clearly and concisely communicates leave information and timelines, as needed. (High proficiency)

  • Ability to analyze, problem solve, organize and manage multiple priorities and effectively follow up in a fast-paced environment. (High proficiency)

  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of organization with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. (High proficiency)

  • Sound judgement and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. (High proficiency)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. (High proficiency)

  • Experience in leave and disability vendor management. (Medium proficiency)

  • Microsoft Office Suite, HR systems (Medium proficiency)

  • Experience working with HRIS and time management systems. (Medium proficiency)
