Job Summary
The Project Policy Analyst 3 will be responsible for the independent leadership of multiple projects under the direction of the HR and Special Events Manager of the School of Medicine Dean's Office. The incumbent will work with senior staff on small teams to launch and support initiatives that include the Schools of Health, UC Davis Health, and the Davis campus, as well as partnerships with community-based business partners and collaborators, with a high level of project and program coordination, development, and communications focus.
The incumbent will serve as a primary staff person for the Office of Wellness Education, the school of medicine's initiative to collate and communicate the science of academic wellness across disciplines. OWE will engage in multiple community-based programs, as well as internal programmatic development and content creation across mediums.
The incumbent(s) provides high-level administrative support as a member of the Dean's Office Executive Support Team, engaging with the group in supporting the executive leadership officers. Each team member will have a primary executive leadership assignment, while serving as backup to other members as needed. The Dean's Office Executive Leadership includes, but is not limited to the Dean, Chief of Staff, Vice Dean for Research, Executive Assistant Dean, and other leadership executives as assigned.
The incumbent provides high-level support in matters related to executive level (Deans, Chairs, Directors) academic recruitment, appointment, and management of the review process for reappointment. These are done in collaboration with the SOM Dean, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel, UCDH Executive Leadership, Vice Dean for Research, SOM Department Chairs, faculty and staff, and other stakeholders as applicable to the program or project. - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Proven experience in program and project management necessary to provide support for projects.
- Extensive event management experience sufficient to support a wide variety of settings spanning planning meetings of 6-10 up to educational sessions involving 500+ attendees.
- Extensive experience exercising analytical problem-solving skills to research, collect analyze, and interpret data and anticipate consequences of decisions and recommendations.
- Experience utilizing initiative, judgment, and discretion in researching, analyzing and compiling necessary background information in the management and response to a wide variety of complex issues
- Experienced with researching issues and initiates an array of correspondence on behalf of the executive and/or senior manager
- Independently assumes responsibility for issues that do not require the executive leadership involvement
- Experience applying problem-solving techniques to resolve various situations
- Excellent diplomacy and judgment to represent UC Davis in situations with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated political acumen to work in an executive-level office environment. Ability to represent the Executive Leadership Team with tact and discretion to all constituents.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate in person, investigative skills to elicit information needed to clarify inquiries and requests; and professional skills to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically, and to work effectively and sensitively with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
- Working knowledge of the operational and long-range goals and policies to apply these priorities to set deadlines and focus effort.
- Resourcefulness and judgement to anticipate problems/roadblocks and associated consequences and taking appropriate initiative on behalf of Executives.
- Ability to exercise analytical and problem-solving skills to research, collect analyze and interpret data and to anticipate consequences of decisions and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of campus-wide offices, services and contacts, and campus policies and procedures to interpret inquiries and requests to formulate appropriate action or response.
- Experience providing support to advisory councils and special committees.
- Experience supporting senior managers in an executive-level office within an academic or similar environment.
- Experience with UCD automated systems, such as AggieTravel, Connexxus and PPS/OPTS/TRS, Kuali and CMS (Course Management System).
- Demonstrated success when collaborating with senior officials and executives from within and outside the University and the ability to think strategically and serve as a sounding board.
