Job Summary
The Food Service HC Supervisor 1 supervises represented staff and operations for patient and retail services throughout the UC Davis Health Campus. This position is responsible to monitor food quality, safety, service timelines and customer service. The supervisor has responsibility for staff performance management, development, coaching and fostering a work environment of respect, inclusion, and engagement. Incumbent is responsible to ensure policies and procedures for food and physical safety and sanitation are consistently followed. Incumbent will monitor and evaluate department operations and implement actions plans for improvement in collaboration with department managers. Incumbent has responsibility for administrative tasks related to staff supervision. The incumbent is responsible for interviewing and training of food service personnel. The supervisor will complete staff scheduling activity including timekeeping, vacation approvals and overtime assignment. As a supervisor, the incumbent will support and collaborate with others in the department and address conduct or performance for staff of different classifications. Incumbent will have responsibility for cash handling supervision and cashiering procedures. Incumbent will cross-cover in the operation when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Supervisory or leadership experience in food service.
- Experience with staff scheduling and timekeeping.
- Performance management experience.
- Experience with staff development and training.
- Experience working with food safety auditors and food safety regulations.
- Customer service experience working directly with customers.
- Work experience with plate presentation, merchandising and/or quality control.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServSafe Certification is required within 6 months of employment with renewal prior to expiration.
- Must have a valid California Driver's License.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Prior experience facilitating team building, engagement and change management workshops or training.
- Experience with POS and cash handling.
- Knowledge of University and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food allergens.

Work Environment
Must be willing and able to work variable shifts (including graveyard, weekends & holidays), hours, and to rotate to various units/buildings/areas to meet the operational needs of the Department. Position may require travel around UCDH and to other catering event locations.
