Job Summary

#CA-DK

Under general supervision, the Hospital Blank Assistant assists technical personnel in the MRI department. This position will include but is not limited to patient care assistance including transport duties, scheduling, and preparing patients for MRI exams.

This position may be required to work in the Main Hospital, ACC, and on the Mobile MRI units.

Skills in prioritization, direct patient care, patient scheduling, EMR documentation, patient coordination, follow-up, and customer service are essential to this position. Incumbent must be capable of working in a fast-paced, multifaceted role."

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in health care.
  • Ability to act diplomatically and exhibit a courteous manner to patients' medical staff, and university personnel at all levels while performing work duties.
  • Ability to present a professional image and maintain composure when dealing with the public and staff using reason and logic.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical personnel, co-workers and other departments.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment always exists.
  • Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive customer-service oriented manner during periods of peak workload with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging customers who may be ill, angry, or emotionally distressed.
  • Complete working knowledge of and skill to apply practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of expertise.
  • Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely provide information, explanations, instructions to, and elicit information from others in email, phone, and in person communications.
  • Ability to communicate with people with varying levels of ability to understand including those individuals who are ill, distressed, or who may not speak English.
  • Ability to accurately type a minimum of 45 wpm.
  • Problem solving abilities to be able to identify problems and independently identify resources and help resolve problems.
  • Proactive approach to negotiate with and persuade others to take required action.
  • Problem-solving skills to independently.
  • Identifies, analyzes and reports problems to technologist, supervisor, and/or managers, accurately and timely.
  • Recognizes problems which exceeds one's knowledge and seeks assistance or refers such matters to appropriate individuals.
  • Troubleshoots and uses alternative approach where appropriate.
  • Seeks information on own initiative from appropriate sources concerning an issue or program.
  • Maintains professional image, attitude and appearance by adhering to UCDHS and Radiology Department Dress Code Policy.
  • Communicates effectively, using tact and diplomacy. Maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with all contacts.
  • Works effectively in team environment to accomplish department goals and objectives.
  • Accomplishes all tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification

Department Overview

The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation providing Imaging Services for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients.

Department Specific Job Scope

This position may perform duties in the Main Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center, Same Day Surgery Center and/or satellite facilities throughout UCD's Primary Clinic Network as deemed necessary by management.
