Hourly Rate: $20 - $27 (based on experience)

Salary Grade: T25

Position Summary
The Project Archivist is responsible for processing and creating finding aids for multiple collections in the Philadelphia Jewish Archives. The project archivist will assist in gaining control over unprocessed holdings in the collection, which documents the history of Jewish organizations and the community in the greater Philadelphia region. Develops and implements processing plans for collections of organization records and personal papers, including appraisal, preservation, and application of minimal processing for some series. Supervises student workers. Performs other duties as assigned.

THIS IS A THREE-YEAR GRANT/ENDOWMENT-FUNDED POSITION.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES A BACKGROUND CHECK.

Required Education and Experience
* Master's degree with an archives management emphasis or concentration and one year of professional experience processing complex, multi-series collections.
* Experience working with archival materials in a research setting.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities
*Demonstrated understanding of current archival theory and practice, including minimal processing.
*Knowledge of archival description standards and practices, including DACS, MARC, LCSH, Dublin Core, EAD.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Demonstrated project management skills.
*Ability to supervise student workers.
*Excellent customer service and interpersonal skill, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of faculty, students and staff

Preferred
*Reading knowledge of Hebrew, Yiddish, or German
*Certification by the Academy of Certified Archivists
