Overview
Now hiring a Senior Application Database Administrator! Under general direction, designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, and integration of systems through database design. Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DB2 Warehouse and/or Netezza databases is a definite plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in related technical/business area plus 4 years of IT or business experience. 6 years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Advanced understanding of Database Principals, DBMS Management Tools/Techniques, Performance Tuning, Debugging/Troubleshooting Techniques and Computer Operations
Responsibilities
- For databases of moderate to high configuration/complexity
- Installs and upgrades database software and related tools/utilities
- Plans and manages database configuration, including cluster database environments.
- Plans and manages database storage
- Controls and monitors user access to database
- Designs and administers database backup and recovery processes
- Support database operations
- Monitors and optimizes database performance
- Modify database parameters/objects, as Nneded, to address performance issues
- Modify data structures, as needed, to provide application support
- Support application development activities, as needed.
- Provide data architecture support for application area(s)
