Purpose:

Assists business development activities by facilitating the maintenance of personal profiles and resumes, tracking existing capabilities, and strategically addressing future customer capability requirements. Encourages positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors. May be involved in networking, negotiations, strategic alliancing, and cost savings efforts. Maintains pricing records reflecting the effort to complete discipline activities. May support proposals by developing the discipline execution strategy, estimating and reviewing costs, writing proposal content, and presenting to customers. May be called upon to lead part or all of a proposal.

Responsibilities:



  • Participates in budgeting and manages discipline operations to the budget. Controls discipline staffing levels, organizational structure, and monitors project discipline structures. Oversees engineering software licensing costs, employee usage, and skill development. Creates and maintains discipline guidelines. Ensures mentoring/training requirements are met. Manages the employee performance review process.
  • Owns discipline technical competency and quality programs and oversees technical competency of those within the discipline. Ensures team member adherence to company processes, generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Supports global standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates and oversees use by the team.
  • Facilitates meeting project requirements through the use of discipline guidelines, programs, and management of the resources allocated to projects. May participate in project execution strategy and planning. Drives innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence. May work with Project Management Teams to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability. Reviews and authorizes work done by direct reports.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:



  • Training in risk management or quality.
  • Typically has 15+ years of relevant discipline experience and 3+ years in project leadership. Has a strong background in discipline work, and a competent understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices. Well versed in discipline setup, instituting work processes, monitoring a team, producing deliverables, and project closeout. Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
  • Experience in risk management, quality, procurement, or construction execution. Adept at budgeting and cost control.



Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:



  • Awarded a 4 or 5 year technical degree in science or engineering.


Preferred:



  • Trained in leadership and project execution. Will be actively licensed with a local engineering governing body where required by law
