Overview

The Genomics, Ethics, and Translational Research (GET), program within RTI Analytics practice area is seeking a part-time Project Interventionist to join our diverse, multidisciplinary team conducting an early intervention study called PIXI (Parents and Infants Interaction Intervention). The purpose of the PIXI Program is to provide psychoeducation, early intervention, and resource referral to caregivers of infants who receive a diagnosis of rare neurogenetic conditions during the first year of life.

The PIXI project is searching for a PIXI Project Interventionist to work with parents and their infants diagnosed with rare neurogenetic conditions during the first year of life.

GET scientists conduct pilot and full-scale research studies, evaluate programs, and provide technical assistance to support evidence-based strategies that inform policy and healthcare practice, with a focus on individuals with rare diseases or a special health care need. The program is seeking a research assistant who can draw on clinical experience as a community Project Interventionist with experience of providing support and resources to caregivers of infants with rare neurogenetic conditions through remote virtual Zoom meetings. The PIXI Project Interventionist will receive training in the implementation of PIXI curriculum with PIXI participants as well as contribute to the adaptation of the curriculum to increase accessibility to African American/Black and Hispanic/Latino families.

Responsibilities

  • Assist caregivers with finding resources, advising the caregiver of processes and encouraging follow through with proposed resolutions, locating necessary supports or provide other assistance as needed.
  • Meet fidelity of implementation of PIXI intervention and parent coaching strategies prior to pilot with PIXI participants.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information related to the participant and their engagement with the research study.
  • Work in collaboration with the PIXI team, including RTI International and other partner agency staff. Attend staff meetings, agency training(s), and conferences. Participate in case conferences/reviews and supervision with PIXI staff.
  • Using effective time management skills to complete required job duties.

Qualifications

  • Personal experience and knowledge of neurogenetic conditions (i.e., Angelman syndrome, Fragile x syndrome, Downs syndrome, Dup15q, 22q deletion, Williams syndrome)
  • Knowledge of Early Intervention services
  • A minimum of 2 years of college/higher education
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work successfully and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Be willing to complete fidelity training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong connections with Early Intervention program
  • Training in mental health counseling, early childhood education, early intervention, pediatric health, family support
  • Extensive experience with providing early intervention supports to infants and young toddlers with rare neurogenetic conditions
