Position Overview:

The Development Officer will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Revenue Officer/ SVP and VP of Development and Membership in increasing the number of supporters and providing operational support of the organization's mission. This position is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on details and information, knows they want a career in development, and is ready to learn more about relational fundraising.


The Development Officer will support the work of the CCGA through cultivating relationships with supporters (particularly individual donors), managing the donor database (Salesforce), tracking and evaluating fundraising efforts and providing some donor communications support. In addition, the DO will take part in portfolio meetings and will be involved in conversations about the replenishment of the prospect pipeline. The DO will also conduct prospect research as needed. The ideal candidate for this role can work independently, is responsive, has impeccable follow-through, and a keen eye for detail. They should also be able to efficiently multi-task and bring joy to their work.

Key Responsibilities:

The Development Officer will be expected to:

  • Establish and maintain procedures for all gift entry and gift acknowledgement across teams, including updating records, entering gifts, running reports, and tracking stewardship and cultivation activities;
  • Prepare detailed statistics reports as requested by the Chief Revenue Officer and VP of Development to assess and analyze current giving trends across the organization and identify opportunities and/or concerns;
  • Assist in preparing donor and prospect lists for Development and Membership acquisition and renewal solicitations;
  • Execute and oversee donor stewardship and cultivation communications in an organized and timely manner;
  • Draft correspondence for donor acknowledgements, and prepare background briefing materials on donor calls/events for Development staff;
  • Help to identify prospective major donors through research and analytics; work collaboratively with CCGA colleagues in prospect development;
  • Assist with gatherings and events; creating presentations and proposals, and assisting with Committee meetings; and,
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications and Skills:

A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience, ideally in a non-profit development setting, that includes:

  • Data management and report generation in Salesforce or similar CRM system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates professional maturity and the capacity to maintain confidentiality requirements of the CCGA and various funders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Curiosity, a strong work ethic and a desire to make a positive impact in the community
