The Clinical Specialist position is responsible for patient care, clinical training, and quality initiatives, with special emphasis in operations and clean room compliance, within the Department of Pharmacy. Primary duties will include oversight of USP 797/800/795 within area of practice, review of master formula records, cleaning documentation and reporting to infection prevention for biannual clean room certification. The clinical specialist will additionally be the point of contact for day to day operations, lead for PATT testing compliance, review of multiple UCSD health policies related to medication management, and provide feedback to staff to follow Board of Pharmacy regulations. The individual will be responsible for fielding questions related to compounding and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary care team. The specialist will also continue to maintain a clinical practice within the inpatient area. This position has recently been accreted by the HX union, and will be a part of that union moving forward.
