Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician III Missile Mod for the RTES, supporting the Army Division. The Engineering Technician will work as a valued team member required to perform assembly/disassembly operations on missile systems, components, and associated hardware within the Missile Modification group in the Climatic Test Division of Redstone Test Center.

JOB DETAILS

LOCATION: Redstone Arsenal Huntsville, AL

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • High School Diploma and/or associate degree from an accredited college/university preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a mechanical or technical field or testing of military hardware is preferred or Two (2) years of applicable college/vocational/military, technical school and three (3) years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area.
  • No certifications needed but:
    • Must be able to obtain a respirator certification for painting missiles.
    • Candidate must be certified (or capable of being certified within two years) to Level I of the radiographic requirements of American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) TC-1A standard or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)
  • Should be able to read, understand and support the development of detailed work procedures as well as use and operate typical mechanical tools.
  • Experience with assembly/disassembly and modification of ordnance, missiles, components and associated hardware to include continuity resistance checks, and a working knowledge of missile systems is a plus.
  • Experience with assembly/disassembly and modification of ordnance, missiles, components and associated hardware to include continuity resistance checks, and a working knowledge of missile systems such as HELLFIRE/Longbow, TOW, and Stinger along with components is considered a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, dependable, possess written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Should be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be capable of obtaining Group II Level Explosive Certification and be willing to work in a hazardous environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Preference will be given to applicants who possess an active Secret Security Clearance, valid driver's license and who are high-energy, fast-paced, driven, organized and attentive to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The candidate will also modify missiles, rockets and explosive components using specialized tools, equipment and remotely controlled systems.
  • The candidate will follow all Standing Operating Procedures (SOP), work procedures, Test Safety Risk Assessments (TSRA) and safety guidelines.
  • Job orientation and on the job, training will be provided.
  • The candidate will collaborate with teammates in establishing best practices and workplace organization.
  • Other duties as assigned. The ability to work safely and efficiently is a must.
