Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Research Technician I to join our team of professionals

Duties:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) performs technical neuroscience laboratory techniques including animal husbandry, significant neonatal experiments, tissue procurement, histological procedures, biochemistry and molecular biology applications (e.g., DNA/RNA/Lipid extraction, enzymatic assays including digestions, sequencing, ELISA amongst others).
  • Performs technical support to pre-existing projects in translational neuropathology.
  • Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification from a department administrator.
  • As needed, assists in regulatory Institutional Review Board (IRB)/ Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)/safety compliance of the laboratory and its members related to institutional guidelines
  • Responsible for the organization of the laboratory and assists with the training of new students, postdoctoral fellows, and collaborating scientists in cell culture and biochemical methods.
  • Provides assistance with the supervision of part-time lab graduate assistants, volunteers and/or Interns.
  • Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
