Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Information School (iSchool), teach LIS 655: Collection Management in a classroom format for the spring semester of the 2024-25 academic year.


Responsibilities:
Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 80% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 10% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:

Required
Master's Degree
Minimum of a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies or closely related field required.


Qualifications:

Knowledge of collection development designed to teach professional skills in selection and control of collections. Experience examining large societal forces affecting the ways librarians have traditionally built collections and contemporary changes in access and ownership. Experience teaching graduate students preferred.


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 33.4% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 5 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding


Salary:

Minimum $50,113 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications


Additional Information:

There is a possibility this position can be extended in subsequent semesters to teach the course listed on this PVL, or similar courses within the department. This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
