After a preliminary onboarding period, Institutional Advancement staff have the ability to work up to two days per week remotely. |
Basic Function |
The Assistant Director of Affinity Engagement will support and manage specific affinity-based alumni networks, events, volunteers, and communications. Affinity-based programs are focused on cohorts of alumni with a shared interest and/or experience.
The Assistant Director of Affinity Engagement is a member of the Alumni Engagement Programs team and plays an important role in successfully executing the strategic priorities for alumni engagement, which is a key priority for Denison. |
Essential Job Functions |
Program Management
- In coordination with the Senior Associate Director of Affinity Engagement, implement strategic initiatives for engagement, provide proactive service, communication and responsiveness to the needs of Denison's alumni community.
- Partner with colleagues to foster alumni engagement synergies across Advancement and with campus partners (i.e. Annual Giving, Athletics, Student Life, etc.)
- Partner with affinity group volunteers to develop and execute strategies to meaningfully connect and engage alumni within each affinity group.
- Support the planning and execution of programs and events for the affinity groups managed by this position.
Volunteer Management
- Responsible for nurturing and maintaining key relationships with leadership of alumni affinity groups.
- Guides volunteer leaders in building strong leadership teams, to ensure a volunteer pipeline for sustained success.
- Advises and consults with volunteer leaders, boards, and councils on a range of issues including annual programming, volunteer recruitment and retention, best practices, University policies, and event planning and communications strategies in collaboration with divisional and campus partners.
Communications and Marketing
- Collaborate with affinity volunteers to create relevant marketing and communication materials and timelines.
- Partner with AFE's Marketing & Communications team and Advancement Communications to ensure consistent, relevant, and timely communications.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with signature events for the division, including Big Red Weekend, Family Weekend, Commencement, Reunion, and others as determined.
Perform other duties as assigned
Some travel is required. |
Minimum Qualifications |
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position.
Minimum of 1-2 years in Alumni Engagement or similar field; experience working with volunteers. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Minimum 3 years in Alumni Engagement or similar field; experience managing volunteers. |
Physical Demands |
Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds. |
