Work Schedule |
The Campus Safety Office is a 24-hour a day, 7-days-a-week operation; and may require working different shifts as needed.
Full-time employment during the academic school year (9 months) with summers off, mid-May to mid-August. The scheduled shift is seniority bid annually. |
Basic Function |
As a Community Service Officer, you will be on a small team with big responsibilities - taking action when unsafe behaviors are observed and responding to emergency situations. We will rely on you to handle calls across the entire campus, deter crime, and build relationships. To thrive in this position, you will make our community feel safe, supported, and treated equitably. |
Essential Job Functions |
Provide service functions to support the general safety of the university community. Patrol an assigned area and respond to radio and/or telephonic calls for routine and/or emergency assistance in all matters. Perform internal and external public safety functions. Perform investigations as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications |
Must be 21 years of age, a high school graduate or equivalent, and be able to pass a background investigation. Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and be insurable through the University. Must possess excellent communication skills. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Must be able to respond professionally to community needs. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Prior training or experience in a university environment.
College courses in Criminal Justice or related fields. Have experience in the field of Public Safety. The ability to give presentations to students, committees, boards, or informal groups. |
Physical Demands |
Be able to walk, stand, and ride in a vehicle for long periods of time.
Be able to climb stairs, walk up and down hills. |
