Job Description
The Surgical Technician Intern is in a specialized internal training program. This position will learn to perform technical skills and provide assistance, under the supervision of surgeons, certified surgical assistants, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. This position works under the supervision of the registered nurse in delivering safe, effective care to the patient during the intra operative period. This position effectively interacts with patients and health care team members, while maintaining the surgical department standards; participates in surgical procedures on patients of all age groups, pediatric through geriatrics. Class Length is 10 months; 4 months classroom and 6 months lecture with addition of clinical rotation. Progression in the program requires the student to maintain a grade average of 80 and complete/passing lab/practicum competencies as written in the Student Handbook. Responsibilities
