Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, provides administrative support to the Honors Program. Assists in facilitating the office operations as well as assisting with confidential faculty and student concerns.

  • Responsible for the daily operation of all clerical functions for the department such as answering the phone, typing correspondence, distributing mail, data entry, filing and scanning documents, and other materials.
  • Welcome visitors and serve as a resource for inquiries about the Honors Program.
  • Using decision-making and problem-solving, ensure that Faculty, Staff, students and Community Members' program-related needs and requests are reasonably accommodated in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the timeliness and accuracy of all work through the organizing, prioritizing, editing and proofreading of tasks.
  • Assist with the development of marketing materials for the program.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of procedures within the department, including supervision of student workers.
  • Schedule meetings and events, assist with event catering, technology set up for the meetings and events, agendas and distribution of pertinent meeting information.
  • Prepare agendas and compile meeting minutes for Honors Program meetings.
  • Assist with planning and implementing co-curricular, evening and annual events.
  • Responsible for editing and designing communication notices related to the events.
  • Process and track purchase orders, and invoices for the Honors Program and monitor and procure office supplies as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Associate degree required.
    • Experience
      • One year of experience in an office environment required.
      • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required.
      • Experience with maintaining a high degree of confidentiality required.
      • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
      • Proficiency in written and spoken English required.
      • Two or more years of experience in an educational environment preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Computer, printer, calculator, telephone, and copy machine.
  • Work tends to be interrupted by high level of student/faculty/community walk-ins and phone calls; deals with confidential material.
  • This position requires a background check.


  • Part-Time Work Schedule: Mondays - Thursdays 9am - 3pm, evenings on occasion

    Hiring Range:
    Classified 9 Salary/19.00 - 21.50

    Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers regular part-time positions a variety of fringe benefits including retirement benefits, access to holiday pay, personal time and other discounts on classes.
