DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Digital Forensic Examiner 1, you will develop a strong skill set in the preservation, collection, and examination of electronic evidence. This evidence will include various operating and file system environments and network communications found in diverse technology. You will work to recover deleted, encrypted, and damaged file information from sources such as computer towers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, routers, and servers. You will be responsible for maintaining an evidence chain of custody and preparing investigation reports which document your analysis and findings. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as you will be called to provide expert testimony regarding digital evidence, the procedures used to obtain the evidence, and the findings of digital forensic examinations. You will also assist with court preparation of evidence and media used during prosecution.

- Full-time employment (37.5-hour work week)
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position requires travel. Travel expenses will be paid.
- Telework: This position does not offer telework.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in digital forensics, cyber forensics, forensic science, computer science or any information technology field that includes 3 college credits in computer networking and 3 college credits in information technology security, network security, or cyber security; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 3 college credits in computer networking and 3 college credits in information technology security, network security, or cybersecurity.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

- The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain designation as a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner within one year from starting the certification process with the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
- This job title has been identified as performing critical duties. Prior to placement in this job title, the selected candidate regardless of their current job, must submit a Report of Mediations for screening by the Pennsylvania State Police Medical Officer.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
