THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services, Torrance State Hospital is looking for individuals who are compassionate and caring, with a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Pennsylvania's most vulnerable citizens. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will be responsible for providing personalized care to consumers using person-centered approaches that prioritize their individual needs. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a member of our enthusiastic and dedicated nursing staff, you will provide care to consumers under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will play a crucial role in assisting consumers with daily living activities; escorting consumers to and from activities, clinics, appointments, and visits on and off grounds; and providing nursing care. You will also respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies. In addition, you will participate in professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and provide the best care possible.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (40-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 3:00 AM to 11:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • This shift includes a rotating schedule working weekends and holidays, with every third weekend off.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (commonwealth title); or
  • Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities; or
  • Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    1. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
