Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Job Description
The Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CArEE) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T, formerly known as University of Missouri - Rolla) invites applications to fill a full-time Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor position starting fall semester 2025. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM). Primary duties include teaching at least three courses per semester. The candidate should also be willing to accept departmental service activities including leading student chapters of professional societies, senior design, online and corporate teaching assignments, and recruitment and outreach. The CEM area is strongly supported by MO-CCI and its member companies (mo-cci.mst.edu) and the selected candidate will be named as the MO-CCI Teaching Scholar. With 25 full-time faculty members, the department positively impacts society through ground-breaking research and high-quality graduate and undergraduate education spanning a legacy of over 150 years. The department's research awards exceeded $11M in FY 2023. The department has over 820 students across the three-degree programs. The department enjoys strong support from alumni and corporate partners with nine endowed professorships. Recent fundraising resulted in an expansion of the Clayco-Advanced Construction and Materials Laboratory, which opened in 2021. The department's civil engineering program is highly ranked among the undergraduate and graduate programs by U.S. News and World Report. The successful candidate must at least hold BSc and MSc degrees in civil engineering or a closely related field with in-depth knowledge in CEM, preference will be given to candidates with significant construction industry experience. A PhD degree (or having a documented ABD status) in civil engineering with a CEM focus is also preferred. The candidate should have substantiated academic background and scholarly output to teach courses in the following areas:
Demonstrated passion for teaching and using innovative teaching pedagogies - including problem and service-based learning - will be highly considered in the evaluation process. The optimal candidate is expected to possess effective and efficient communication skills to develop course outlines, deliver course objectives, and engage students in CEM. Application Materials
