Medical Receptionist Location: Onsite in Portsmouth, VA Experience Level: Intermediate Employment Type: 6 month contract Salary: $18-20 per hour Hours: M-F between 7:45am - 4:45pm (8 hour shift) Description: Responsible for check in and check out Collect ID, Insurance Co-Pays Collect patient balances and close out the cash/balance daily Answering the phones - each medical receptionist is answering about 70-90 phone calls per day (most calls are patients scheduling appointments or prescription refills) Higher volume phone calls -Monday-Wednesday Check patient eligibility and verify insurance - do that the day prior to appointment FollowMyHealth tasks that they allocate to the nurses (that is their patient portal) Patients can requests appointments, refills, etc. through the patient portal and it goes to the front desk and then they will task them appropriately. They can also request to cancel or reschedule appointments which the front desk will work No metrics held to but manager monitors the task box to make sure none are delinquent Tasks that come in prior to 12 PM that day should be worked by COB anything after 12 PM needs to be worked by 12 pm the next day Miscellaneous administrative tasks Additional Skills & Qualifications: medical reception, EMR, Patient Registration, scheduling, Allscripts, IDX, Health Insurance 1. Medical receptionist / patient registration experience - 1-2 years 2. Allscripts and IDX experience is preferred. If not, EMR experience 3. Health insurance knowledge 4. Great phone etiquette 5.
