Summary of Job Duties:The Business and Operations Manager is responsible for the financial operations of the Center. The position will work with the Center Director and university financial officers. The position will also include campus and community outreach to support Center goals. This is a full-time grant/contract funded position and the continuation of employment is dependent on funds generated from these activities. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • BA or BS degree

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Master's Degree
  • Project management experience;
  • Program development experience;
  • Experience working in a higher education environment and a variety of educational technology tools.
  • Experience in budget management and with developing online management resources.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Budget:

  • In consultation with the Center Director, develop and monitor program budgets for grants, contracts and designated funds
  • Prepare reports and maintain expenditure budgets through Workday for the Center
  • Prepare requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and receivers in Workday
  • Prepare ad hoc payments for Center projects
  • Create and maintain accurate budget files and records of required purchase orders in Workday
  • Maintain office equipment with new contracts, prepares spend authorizations (travel) and expense reports (reimbursements) in Workday
  • Collaborate with the Benefits Partner in Human Resources with regard to Center staffing procedures
  • Orient, invite and provide follow-up to new suppliers in PaymentWorks

Center Project and Event Management:

  • In consultation with the Center Director prepare and manage everyday Center activities
  • Prioritize project activities in order to meet deadlines for State, Federal, foundational grants and internal university fiscal deadlines
  • In consultation with the Director, provide oversight of awarded grants and contracts
  • Process multiple complex tasks in a timely, systematic, and organized manner
  • Maintains Center financial grant and contract and financial files updated and verified for accuracy via Workday and Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP).

Short and Long-range Center Team planning:

  • Act as liaison between the Center and UA Little Rock Financial Services, Procurement and Human Resources
  • Collaborate with Center Director to establish annual calendar for financial deadlines
  • Compiles data reports for the college, ORSP and external agencies as indicated
  • Interacts professionally with faculty, staff, students, administration and internal/external agency representatives.
  • Provides administrative support to the Center's Director
  • Assist in documenting and refining processes and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills, diplomacy, and familiarity with technology
  • Ability to prioritize needs based on evolving conditions, switching easily between a variety of skills and tasks as needed to accomplish goals of the Center
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Center programs and projects
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Experience with program management
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple priorities demonstrated through past experience
  • Strong computer skills which include Word, Excel, and Power Point, and a variety of educational technology tools
  • Experience with budget development and management in Workday
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a vehicle
