Overview

The Mount Laurel, NJ office of TRC has an opening for a full-time Soils Laboratory Technician / Soil Scientist, who will also support our Geotechnical Engineering Group. TRC offers full spectrum Geotechnical Engineering services. In addition to geotechnical engineering, we also have a full-service drilling division, an ASTM/AASHTO accredited soil mechanics and rock testing laboratory, a pile dynamic analysis (PDA) testing and vibration monitoring component, and a commercial construction inspection division, all of whom work together to provide high-quality and cost-effective geotechnical design solutions for a wide range of project applications. Our team supports projects nationwide; however, our primary service area comprises PA, NJ, NY, MA, CT, VA, WV, OH, DE, DC, and MD.


Responsibilities

While primary responsibilities are anticipated to be assisting with visual classification and laboratory testing of soil and rock, this position will also involve a variety of additional office and field related assignments.

Examples of additional responsibilities include:

  • Assisting engineers with report preparation, inspection, and logging of site investigation activities.
  • Performing in-situ testing for design of stormwater management facilities and quality control testing of earthwork and foundation construction activities.
  • Training will be provided for all aspects of the job responsibilities.

Work Environment

The employee will be exposed to variable working conditions, such as wet and/or humid weather, cold and/or hot weather, and dusty/noisy work environments. Noise levels can sometimes be moderate to moderately loud. Some overtime work and overnight travel (in-state or out-of-state) will be required. Some weekend work may also be required.


Qualifications

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Soil science background a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • An interest in laboratory testing, construction, and the geo-sciences.
  • Perform work both indoors and outdoors involving long-term standing, bending, crouching, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40-50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds with assistance.
  • Prior experience performing routine geotechnical laboratory soils testing and/or stormwater infiltration testing is a plus but is not required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
