Overview
The CAD Manager, reporting to the Chief Technical Officer - Substation Engineering, will help the transition to 3D, Automated and BIM design practices for substation engineering by advising on industry best practices, developing, setting, and implementing the standards and procedures. In addition, the CAD Manager - Engineering Systems will lead a CAD Support team providing user support, administration, and continuous process development and improvement to support efficient project execution.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering systems (e.g., CAD) support for engineering and design teams.
- Assist CAD software, patching and customization deployments to TRC employees.
- Address or lead the support of technical issues, training, and other CAD system issues.
- Communicate to substation practice employees regarding technical challenges, outages, and coordination where applicable.
- Creating and maintaining client Workspaces and Profiles in CAD and ProjectWise.
- Ensure CAD standards, technical, procedural, internally and externally, are implemented and followed.
- Creation and implementation of engineering design training programs.
- Create, and oversee standards installation and procedures for CAD systems onto user's machines.
- Understand and can apply BIM methodologies and assist with the implementation thereof.
- Develop CAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) strategies and supporting procedures.
- Lead and/or coordinate with project teams to develop 3D models using parts libraries.
- Development of productivity enhancements and customizations that fit TRC, and client's needs.
- Management and oversight of CAD support staff.
- Foster growth and keep staff up to date on training, new processes, and client standards to best support the broad user base they are required to interact with daily.
- Have extensive knowledge of industry best practices and gather knowledge through review of industry periodicals, expos, seminars, and trade shows.
- Stay current with industry standards and seek to understand industry trends.
- Incorporate emerging technologies such as AI, LiDAR, 3D Model, Automation, collaboration tools, remote access tools, etc. into project delivery.
- Manage file translation methods between design platforms and client systems.
- Collaborate with IT to integrate engineering applications and ensure successful implementation.
- Assist the Chief Technical Officer with tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Engineering, or similar field of study.
- Minimum 10 years related experience in 2D and 3D Design, or similar roles in related Power Delivery or related industries.
- Autodesk AutoCAD Certified Professional preferred.
- Proven experience with the following applications is strongly preferred: Autodesk Inventor, Civil3D, Map3D, Revit, MicroStation (2D and 3D), Bentley Open Utilities, SBS Substation Design Suite, ProjectWise, etc.
- Have advanced experience and competence in all forms of CAD and 3D Modeling software.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and sharp business judgment.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, LISP) to automate tasks and enhance user efficiency strongly preferred.
- Open to innovative ideas and respectful of differing opinions/perspectives.
- Addresses difficult or ambiguous problems head-on and challenges the status quo.
- Can readily adapt to change and is open to learning new skills.
- Self-motivated and can work remotely and independently in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Highly collaborative and can work cross-functionally, while cultivating relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Willingness to work across time zones and with international partners / colleagues.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range
USD $80,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
