Payroll Specialist

The Company

Modern Aviation (the "Company") is a private equity backed platform company launched in 2018 that is focused on the fixed-based operator ("FBO") sector. The Company has been rapidly growing through the acquisition of FBO locations and has significant additional committed capital from its sponsors to continue to grow the business through future acquisitions.

Essential Functions:



  • Ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of time and pay for multi-state payroll which includes 500+ employees in a fast-paced environment while meeting critical deadlines


  • Responsible for data completeness in the timekeeping system and for data being properly interfaced into the payroll system


  • Compile, balance, and ensure compliance requirements are met for additional earnings submissions, time corrections, and rate overrides submitted from multiple locations and validate results in the payroll system


  • Review payroll reports to confirm data is balanced with timekeeping and department/base submission reports to ensure accuracy and identify any out-of- balance conditions needing correction


  • Understand and apply company policy, corporate agreements, and state/government regulations effecting payroll procedures


  • Facilitate strong customer service relationships with external/internal personnel and peers


  • Research, analyze, and interpret multiple sources of payroll data to provide resolution for payroll inquiries from HR, Finance, and Business Managers error troubleshooting, and compliance testing


  • Maintain accurate assignments and PTO accruals for new hire, transfer, and LOA employees


  • Provide support for external and internal audits related to pay items


  • Support payroll projects, process improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned



Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor degree along with previous experience in a similar role preferred, or 3+ years of relevant experience required


  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail


  • Strong math aptitude, Excel skills, and problem-solving skills


  • Previous experience with Paycor preferred


  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and workload pressure of strict deadlines


  • Must be able to meet critical deadlines and adapt to circumstances beyond control


  • Familiarity with large company payroll and timekeeping systems

Reports to: VP, Human Resources

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Supervisory Responsibility: This position currently does not have direct reports.

FLSA Status: This position is exempt.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers.

Travel: This job requires occasional travel to our FBO locations.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform frequent walking, sitting, stooping, stretching, bending, reaching, and grasping actions. May be required to work nights and weekends.
