Job Description
Engineering controller for maintenance, repair and capital projects. Responsible for planning and scheduling, monitoring, and quality review. Establishes procedures to mitigate risk. Provides guidance and assistance for engineering staff in budget development and cost tracking. Essential Functions: Planning
- Defines and tracks objectives, including performance, cost and schedule objectives.
- Assists in the development of vessel maintenance and repair budgets
- Maintains computer files for contracts, inspection milestones, maintenance schedules, materials requirements, training records and other logistics/financial/administrative functions in the BMS and/or Share-point.
Organizing
- Responsible for identifying, developing and providing weekly and monthly progress reports, both internal and external.
- Responsible for developing accounting structure and ensure personnel are correctly assigning costs to allocated structure.
- Carries out (or supervises) required tradeoff studies. Example, purchase service from vendors or utilize Foss services and assets.
- Performs technical evaluations of alternative problem solutions.
Staffing (and sub-contracting)
- Evaluates technical and management proposals for work accomplishment.
- Helps negotiate agreements with subcontractors, vendors, customers, etc., for work done on projects.
Controlling
- Tracks and measures results against the plan (cost, schedule, and performance) and communicates results to others.
- Responsible for tracking vessel budgets and developing and providing reports of the same.
- Fully cognizant of SAP functions and perform duty as an SAP "super-user". Enters data into SAP computer system, utilizes and maintains PR & PO reports, and set up of new vendors.
- Administers claims and finalizes submittal package to Saltchuk Marine Risk Management.
Administrative
- Support financial team in developing monthly and annual budget and forecast marine maintenance and repair activities
- Assist Fleet Engineering team in developing, tracking and reconciling PRs and POs
- Support finance in the development of capital asset requests
- Understands and complies with all Company policies and procedures, including EEO, Non-Discrimination, Harassment, and Saltchuk Code of Ethical Business Conduct.

- Performs special duties and other projects as assigned.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Knowledge Of:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Standard accounting methods, project scheduling, system safety and reliability, shipyard safety requirements.
- Ship and barge operation, construction, maintenance and repair.
- Supply chain logistics, maritime shipping industry
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and human relation skills necessary in dealing with Foss employees, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to plan and organize work in an often-changing environment.
- Ability to remain calm and maintain a sense of humor during times of stress.
- Ability to use a personal computer for word-processing, spreadsheets, SAP, and scheduling software (P6 or MS Project).
- Ability to give attention to detail, to make decisions, and to solve problems (sometimes involving complex technical or financial issues).
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma and two (2) years of relevant experience in the marine, construction or logistics industry including some project management or relevant experience. A degree in accounting, business, logistics or construction management is a plus.

Compensation
Pay for this position will be between $71,325 and $106,988 annually.
