Position Summary:

Join our dynamic and dedicated team at Vallen as an On-site Buyer! In this exciting role, you'll be stationed at a customer location, playing a vital part in delivering exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to procure products, goods, and materials-both stock and non-stock-that align with the organization's standards for price, quality, timing, and reliability.

Compensation: This position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $23/hr., commensurate with experience and qualifications, with opportunities for additional compensation based on performance.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Activities: Execute procurement processes to meet current and anticipated product and material demands, in line with Vallen's purchasing strategies.
  • Inventory Management: Review and approve inventory forecasts and daily replenishment recommendations generated by Vallen's ERP systems.
  • Order Optimization: Assess existing orders for expediting or de-expediting to ensure optimal delivery.
  • Purchase Management: Place purchase requisitions, and vendor purchase orders efficiently.
  • Vendor Research: Source, evaluate and recommend vendors and specific items to ensure compliance with quality, pricing, and delivery standards.
  • Quality Monitoring: Oversee the quality and timeliness of supplies, coordinating the return of damaged goods when necessary.
  • Negotiation: Manage vendor returns for aging or excess inventory and facilitate liquidation activities as needed.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with vendors and customers to resolve issues related to timeliness and product quality.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and assigned customers.
  • Cost Savings: Identify and document opportunities for customer cost savings.
  • KPI Reporting: Generate and analyze customer KPI measurement data.
  • Adherence to Procedures: Follow all Vallen and customer Standard Operating Procedures, while practicing LEAN operating principles to maintain a professional and organized work environment.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in procurement or a related field.
  • Strong customer service skills and a commitment to excellence.
  • Proficient in using ERP and inventory management applications, with strong computer skills.
  • Mathematical aptitude for basic calculations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Wisconsin State Driver's License and reliable vehicle.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Work may occur in a manufacturing environment, exposing you to dirt, smoke, heat, and cold.
  • Safety protection is required per the customer's safety protocols.
