Position Summary:


The Waiting Room-Customer Service Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the HVI and Surgical Waiting Rooms, checking patients in on the surgical side and managing the list of patients on the HVI side. Attends to the needs of the families of those in surgery for both One Day Surgery and HVI. Oversees ordering of coffee and coffee supplies as well as office supplies, trains new volunteers, and coordinates volunteer efforts on both sides of the room.


Qualifications:


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years experience working with the public.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Basic computer skills required. Ability to read, speak and understand the English language.


Essential Functions:

  • Assists wheelchair patients when appropriate.
  • Calms upset patients expressing understanding and empathy.
  • Completes incident reports on injuries and helps care for injured.
  • Greets and welcomes patients, visitors and staff.
  • Provides telephone assistance to upset/confused patients.
  • Refers patients to appropriate physician, appointments, or department; gives directions and information as needed.
  • Remains knowledgeable of new physicians and specialty areas.
  • Retrieve wheelchairs from all areas
  • Observant for security risks and communicates such risks to the appropriate department.
  • Routes suggestions and concerns to proper people.
  • Orders coffee, coffee supplies and office supplies for Surgical/HVI waiting room.
  • Trains new volunteers, and coordinates volunteer efforts for both the Surgical and HVI waiting rooms.
