Recovery Support Specialist - Brighter Days Ahead

Position Summary:


Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor and provides care to consumers utilizing the Drop In Center. Serves as a support to other teams of TrilliumPlace and the community by providing recovery-oriented community-based services to adults with behavioral health diagnoses.


Qualifications:


CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) must be completed once 2000 hours worked within 2 years and Driver's License upon hire.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a lived experience with mental illness.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to a wide range of client situations. Able to accurately collect and assess information, understand ethical standards of behavioral healthcare, and utilize teaching/learning theories. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (orally and in writing) and presents self in a professional manner. Able to establish effective consultative relationship with health care providers, outside agencies, co-workers, and the community. Able to work sensitively with consumers. Able to handle multiple priorities, maintain composure under stress, and adapt to a fast-paced changing environment. Proficiency in the use of computer programs including Microsoft Office.


Essential Functions:

  • Consumer Services* Assures that all consumers receive strength-based ongoing consumer services for behavioral health needs based on the consumer's goals.* Encourages/assist individuals served to develop their own recovery plan based on evidence-based practices.* Follows the CRSS code of ethics when providing support services to individuals served. * Provides mentoring, individual and group support, and teaches self-advocacy and motivation through feedback.* Provides supportive services through facilitating groups, activities, classes that educate on daily living skills, coping skills, mental health awareness, socialization/leisure skills, community resources, communication skills and other necessary components of wellness.* Shares their recovery story in order to demonstrate how skills, strengths, supports and resources direct their own recovery process. * Responds to crises situations by providing direction, recommendations, and crisis intervention. Coordinates with ERS when further assessment and services are needed.* Provides linkage to mental health services and programs, including but not limited to, psychiatric services, medication management, and representative payee.* Provides linkage and education to support individuals who desire to volunteer or work and to those who need support in applying for benefits. * Identifies available support systems to meet the needs of each individual that is served. * Delivers high quality care appropriate to the age and educational level of the client.
  • Clinical Excellence* Utilizes peer mentoring and support, Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitation, access to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and their signature programs (Peer Connections, In Our Own Voice, Family to Family) to motivate individuals towards wellness and recovery goals.* Maintains accurate, concise, current documentation. This includes but is not limited to all phone conversations, requests from the client, changes in the clinical conditions and all consultations with team members.* Integrates ethical principles, evidence-based practice, and research findings into all areas of practice.* Establishes and maintains good working relationships with the medical, educational, and the social services community.
  • Education* Participates in in-service and competency training. * Meets compliance standards for all documentation.
