Distribution Systems Operator Supervisor in Training

POSITION PURPOSE

We are seeking a focused individual who is able to multitask and work carefully in a fast-paced environment to join our Distribution Operations Center. The Distribution Systems Operations Supervisors work 24/7 to ensure safe, reliable, and economic operation of the electric and gas distribution systems during normal and emergency conditions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Directs field personnel in emergency response to natural gas leaks and electric distribution outages while under the direction of an experienced operator with the authority and responsibility to implement emergency response procedures.
  • Utilizes the Distribution Management System and the Energy Management System to monitor and respond to system disturbances and takes corrective action via SCADA remote-controlled field devices or through direction of field crews.
  • Prepares and directs gas-valving plans in emergency situations associated with damaged gas mains and services.
  • Utilizes the Outage Management System to efficiently analyze, prioritize, and troubleshoot electric outages.
  • Issues and releases holdouts and hot line clearance tags to provide a safe working environment for electric line technicians.
  • Writes and executes scheduled and emergency electric switching procedures.
  • Monitors gas system pressures, flow levels, and odorant injection rates to ensure the gas distribution system is operating within safe tolerances.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience



  • Engineering or technical degree, such as electrical power engineering, electrical power distribution construction, natural and propane gas distribution/service, or other relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Two or more years of experience working in an electrical distribution environment.


Knowledge and Skills



  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Able to prioritize information.
  • Must have clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively in stressful situations.
  • Able to work regularly scheduled 12-hour rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must also be able to work in excess of 12 hours during heavy workload and/or emergency situations.
  • Able to work on an on-call basis and report to work within one hour if called.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to multitask.
