Overview: The IT Pharmacy Manager/Product Owner is an Operational and Technical Manager that plays a key role in driving the successful execution of the operational initiatives and programs put forward within IT to support the University of Vermont Health Network Pharmacy departments. S/he also has managerial responsibility for technical resources that are necessary for both clinical and non-clinical applications. This includes helping maintain the operation and maintenance of the pharmacy information systems, assisting with implementation of system software and integration across the UVM Health Network. They should have an in-depth understanding of business and/or clinical processes within the pharmacy. This position collaborates with the IT Pharmacy Team, Pharmacy Business Relationship Partner, and Pharmacy Scrum Coach to develop and carry out initiatives and programs that enable improvements in the delivery of IT Pharmacy applications. The IT Operational and Technical Manager will focus on operational execution including managing upgrade processes, defining/measuring metrics, building and ensuring operational processes are in place and working across IT to ensure a high-level of efficiency, productivity, patient/family and customer/partner satisfaction. The IT Operational and Technical Manager will also focus on building, maintaining and leveraging strategic third-party relationships to ensure operational efficiencies. S/he will be involved in the development of project plan timelines and assignment of resources to design, manage, coordinate, support, test, train and implement strategies consistent with the priorities set by the IT Leadership Team. The manager is expected to take a leadership role in identifying and resolving issues, managing resources, meeting the organizational initiatives and end user needs. The incumbent will work with operational/clinical and technical staff to facilitate cohesive integration of features between all applications. S/he will work to optimize the technical design to meet the needs of large groups of interdisciplinary end-users. S/he will facilitate communication and status updates as well as collaborate with the Leadership Team regarding maintenance, updates and the optimization to support patient care. S/he will work collaboratively with the organizational committees regarding strategies related to workflow analysis, system development and implementation. Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, pharmacy, finance, nursing, health administration, or a related field required. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible management experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in healthcare, healthcare operations, information technology, or operational responsibilities in another industry. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent and complex projects. Proven ability to effectively develop and motivate teams to achieve a high level of result.
Additional Qualification:
  • Technical application support experience required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills required to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules to meet job requirements; requires periodic after-hours support and some evenings/weekends during upgrades.
  • Incumbent must have the ability and means to regularly travel throughout the UVM Health Network
