JOB TITLE: Regional Human Resources Manager - Appleton/Marshfield
POSITION TYPE: Full time
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

Position Overview

This role is accountable for human resources support and partnership across multiple Foremost Farms locations: Appleton and Marshfield. This role will advise and develop talent and labor relations strategies in line with short- and long-term business needs, work cross-functionally to interconnect HR services in a solution-oriented way to address retention, development, mgmt. skills, etc., and guide and lead team members to implement strategies, projects and day to-day human resources activities in a manufacturing setting.

Key Accountabilities



  • Ownership for the labor strategy, union relationships, escalated issues:
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with union business agent(s), chief stewards and union management committee.
  • Develop and maintain a strong external network of labor relations professionals to stay informed of key labor topics, trends, benchmarks, etc.
  • Develop and maintain credible relationships with company management to align labor strategy and decisions with short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Advise on and appropriately communicate escalating labor issues and/or grievances.
  • Lead arbitration process, as needed.
  • Prepare and participate in union contract negotiations, as needed.


Ownership for the talent strategy:



  • Lead and implement talent management practices and facilitates the development and mobility of plant salaried staff.
  • Develop a strategy and implement tactics to support new hire retention.
  • Support plant management in culture development and lead initiatives to elevate the employee experience by designing and enhancing key moments along the employee lifecycle, actively engaging with all plant personnel, and implementing ways to bring the employee value proposition (known as MEE at Foremost Farms) to life.
  • Lead salaried employee relations and investigations.
  • Work with plant leadership, corporate talent development resources, and other team members to identify and close capability and skill gaps, 30% Job Description 2 supporting on the job training initiatives and leadership development offerings.
  • Partner with plant leadership and other key stakeholders to proactively develop a workforce plan and position management in line with the annual budget process (AOP).


Lead and develop talent:



  • Advise and lead results through direct and indirect reports.
  • Mentor and develop talent within HR and the plant.
  • Advise plant leadership on talent and labor issues.
  • Provide thought partnership and coaching to plant and operations leadership.


Minimum Qualifications



  1. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field of operations
  2. Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR and/or manufacturing leadership experience.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience.
  4. Minimum of 2 years of union management experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  1. Hands on experience with union contract negotiations.
  2. Experience facilitating group sessions or training.
  3. Continued education and/or certification in one of the following areas: labor relations, change management, coaching, project management, etc.
