Job Description

This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of Global Trade compliance operational activities for US Imports. Key objectives are to ensure seamless flow of goods across borders, minimizing Supply Chain costs while complying with government regulations to protect General Mills brands. This position will be responsible to develop strong relationships at all levels to be responsive to changing internal and external requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Management of US Import Operations. Accountable for day-to-day operational execution to ensure Trade compliance excellence in the following operational areas: Pre-entry setup, entry execution and post-entry process (i.e., Customs entry filing process, classification, denied party screening, controls, embargos/sanctions, post-entry audits, recordkeeping, etc.)
  • Oversight of operational tasks performed by members in the General Mills India Center
  • Determine proper Customs classifications, valuation, and country of origin/marking of products, equipment, and raw materials, ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Accountable for all aspects of US import Post-Entry Audit Program to include process and procedure development, collaborative problem resolution and identification of strategic productivity opportunities enhancing regulatory compliance
  • Trade Compliance System and process expert in E2Open's - Trade Automation Compliance System, while advocating for data and process sustainability
  • Oversight and escalation point for Import/Export Analyst supporting US Import sample and equipment program
  • Lead and drive Continuous Improvement and sustainability efforts.
  • Develop, implement and monitor US Global Trade KPIs & metrics. Creating process improvements related cost, compliance and service
  • Manage and on-going support of new projects in partnership with External Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Innovation, Technology & Quality Org across all operating units
  • Manage daily relationships with Customs brokers and freight forwarders
  • Manage working partnerships with Other Government Agencies (i.e., FDA, USDA, etc.)
  • Consult business teams through the Go To Market process to ensure products can move into new markets compliantly
  • Establishes, improves, and maintains import/export operations process documentation and standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensurecompliancewith companybusiness practices and applicable laws and regulations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of import/export compliance operations, international business, relevant supply chain, finance and/or international experience
  • Strong knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations regarding food products
  • Strong understanding of business, trading practices and applicable laws
  • Ability to learn US Import Operations with a systematic approach in GMI's Trade Automation system
  • Results oriented, with the ability to work independently, managing priorities and complex workload
  • Ability to make decisions without all the details, evaluate outcomes and manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and cross-functional leadership
  • Shows passion for learning and developing/applying new processes
  • Integrated Supply Chain mindset

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms and transportation processes
  • Experience with Customs brokers, freight forwarders and carriers, and a basic understanding of Free Trade Agreement Programs
  • Collaboration across geographies with Regional Logistics Teams (Global Team)
  • Problem solving and Process Improvement leveraging an agile mindset.

  • Manage Relationships in a Matrix

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $79500.00 - $119400.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
