RN - Cath Lab
Full-Time, Days $30,000 sign on bonus for eligible candidates. Baptist Health invasive cardiac services, where compassionate care meets advanced treatment and research. Our three units encompass the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and Cardiovascular Observation Unit. Our invasive Cardiac Services include cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, percutaneous catheter interventions, cardiac MEMs, interventional neurology, interventional radiology, cardiac ablations, pacemakers/defibrillators, left atrial appendage occlusion devices, loop recorder implants, transesophageal echocardiograms, and electrical cardioversions. Job Summary:
Administers, supervises, teaches, records and evaluates the professional nursing care given to patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of department leadership, assists physicians during routine cardiac cath procedures, elective and emergency angioplasty procedures, structural heart procedures and other advanced cardiovascular special procedures. Monitors adult and geriatric patients during procedure and administers care as needed or as directed by the physician. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots cath lab equipment including video recorders, hemodynamic records, radiographic equipment and digital imaging equipment. Provides nursing care during all cardiac cath procedures with technical accuracy and a thorough understanding of all procedures performed. Assists in providing optimum care for patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures by possessing necessary knowledge of cardiovascular disease and medications. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of sterile technique. Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety and equipment safety. Demonstrates a working knowledge of specialized diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular equipment. Assists with troubleshooting equipment as able. Provides a safe environment. Records an accurate medical history and physical assessment according to procedure to be performed. Demonstrates knowledge of drug therapy and documents according to best practice. Assists in the orientation of new personnel. Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses must be able to take occasional call, in order to assist us in providing service for cardiac and stroke interventions 24 hours per day. When on call, must be able to report for duty within 30 minutes of notice.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
Active Kentucky Nursing License. At least 2 years of experience preferred in ICU, CCU or cardiovascular nursing. BCLS Required within 90 days of employment. ACLS will be required within six months for experienced staff nurses and within one year for new graduate nurses.
