Join Macquarie's North American Power, Gas and Emissions trading team as a Senior Data Scientist providing data and analytics solutions across our commodities business lines. The Commodities Data Science team applies new or advanced methods and technologies to build value across the Commodities business.

What role will you play?

In this role you will work with traders, analysts, quant researchers and technology teams to develop fundamental models and assisting sales and trading in their use of data and models. You will find and develop opportunities to apply new technologies and approaches, and work with external startups to further the commodities business. This is a rapidly evolving area where your learning mindset, can-do attitude, and effective communication with a diverse set of stakeholders will see you succeed.

What you offer

  • Possess a Bachelor's, Masters or PhD in a quantitative and problem-solving discipline with strong academic performance from a leading university
  • 5+ years of experience in commodity trading and familiarity with a trading environment and associated language and terminology
  • Strong python development and modelling skills
  • Experienced with an energy systems modelling platform such as Plexos, Dayzer, GAMS, etc is a plus
  • Familiarity with data analytics platforms such as Dataiku, data visualization platforms such as PowerBI or Spotfire and cloud computing, such as AWS or GCP, is highly beneficial.
