The GI Clinic RN will provide exemplary patient care and will work closely with the physician partners and members of the interdisciplinary GI team. The RN is expected to function with a high level of independence and will work with patients with complex GI disorders as well as general GI patients. The RN is expected to show innovation and leadership in developing and recommending policies and procedures to improve patient quality and patient experience.

This Staff Nurse will be responsible to:

  • Provide direct patient care in the clinic setting, facilitate patient flow, manage enteral tube, cecostomy and ostomy problems and other patient needs during clinic session.
  • Provide care coordination between clinic visits by communicating with families, health care team members and community agencies.
  • Act as primary triage contact for patient questions and phone calls. Assists with prior authorizations, school forms/letters and prescription refills. Collaborates daily with physician team and administrative staff.
  • Provide comprehensive patient education for patients with new diagnoses as well as those starting new treatments.
  • Identify patient educational needs and work with other team members on the development of educational materials and educational programs.
  • Plan, organize and oversee policies and procedures designed to improve the patient/family experience.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A BSN degree.
  • 1 year of pediatric experience required; 2-3 years preferred. Pediatric GI experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel to satellite locations. The RN will see patients at the Waltham and Boston Campuses.
  • Excellent organizational skills and teamwork skills are required.
  • Experience working with children with chronic illness. Patient care, education, telephone triage and coordination of care are key components of this role.
  • Ability to work Monday Tuesday Wednesday Friday, 730-6
