Description

Mazak Corporation is looking for an Application Engineer Manager to join the team at the Northeast Technology Center located in Windsor Locks, CT. This position directs a group of Applications Engineers in the design, plan, and coordination of the mechanical and software integration of the MAZAK product portfolio delivering market leading solutions for customers addressing optimal processes to deliver cost effective and efficient process solutions.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

* Proactively attain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

* Assist in developing proposals, determining the need for time studies, machine type recommendations, future tooling requirements, turnkey and team-key concepts, and project pricing for the customer.

* Assign projects focused on reviewing and analyzing customer part manufacturing requirements, timing from proposal to installation.

* Assist as necessary to review manufacturing applications including current and potential issues.

* Guide the team to test alternative techniques and methods; recommend changes in procedure, equipment, or practices as needed.

* Recommend training to internal and customer personnel as needed.

* Maintain awareness of recent technological improvements, continues professional development, and encourages the same for the team.

* Plans and helps to manage Technology Center shows, customer visits and manufacturing trade organization events.

* Develop an applications organization that aligns with and evolves to match current Mazak technology being demonstrated and sold to customers.

* Manage all machine movements, installation, set-up then decommission and shipment of regional demonstration machines.

* Provide leadership for regional applications team, develop work and travel schedules as needed.

* Provide market vision, direction, and feedback to MAZAK leadership team.

* Prepare and deliver presentations to MAZAK leadership team.

* Visit customer facilities and vendor locations both domestic and international.

Education/Certification:

* Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical discipline.

Skills:

* Five to seven years' experience in a fast paced, highly technical manufacturing environment using CNC machine tools.

* Demonstrate team building capability.

* Overall knowledge of entire product/service portfolio.

* Knowledge and application of value selling techniques.

* Project Management.

* Ability to develop and implement sales strategies.

* Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings.

* Solid foundation of programming and operating Mazak machine tools.

* Strong proficiency in evaluating workpiece drawings/part models and formulating machining processes to support required geometric tolerances and production volumes.

* Effective negotiation.

* Written and interpersonal communications.

* Advance presentation skills.

* Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services - including marketing strategies and product demonstration.
