JOB TITLE: Orderly (Full time)
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Maintains the Center in a neat, orderly and sanitary condition by performing a variety of environmental services including cleaning/servicing building area and moving furniture, equipment and supplies.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Clinical Administrator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs any combination of following tasks, as directed by nursing and medical staff, to care for patients in hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility:
- Lifts patients onto and from bed, and transports patients to other areas, such as operating and x-ray rooms, by rolling bed, or using wheelchair or wheeled stretcher.
- Sets up equipment, such as oxygen tents, portable x-ray machines, and overhead irrigation bottles.
- Makes beds and collects soiled linen.
- Select cleaning materials, load service cart and clean assigned areas
- Clean rooms and corridors, equipment and notifies manager of any needed repairs
- May collect hazardous waste and transport it in special closed container for sterilization
- Collect or distribute linen, clean and soiled.
- Maintains a clean, orderly and well-stocked environment.
- Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.
- Cleans Center's patient rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, halls, and other areas
- Washes beds and mattresses, and remakes beds after dismissal of patients.
- Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition.
- Distributes laundered articles and linens.
- Replaces soiled drapes and cubicle curtains.
- Performs other duties as described under CLEANER (any industry) I Master Title.
- May disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies, using germicides and sterilizing equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Wheelchair, BP cuff/machine, stethoscope, weight scales, graduate, blood glucose monitor, specimen tubes/containers, equipment for monitoring and recording (vital signs, weight and body fluid drainage), portable oxygen, beds/ stretchers and other communication devices. Telephone, fax, intercom, computer and other communication devices.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Self starter; able to work effectively with limited supervision
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Other responsibilities as the business grows
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS/ ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to read, speak and write effectively. Must be able to calculate basic math. Must be able to see, hear, and have the manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, fine and gross motor skills and tactile abilities. Must possess the ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, stretch, push and pull, and remain on feet for extended periods. Must be able to problem-solve using good judgment. Must possess the physical agility to respond in a quick manner to unexpected patient and family needs. Must be able to lift 0-50 lbs. Must demonstrate proper body mechanics.
