Correctional Physician - Hematologist/Oncologist Lubbock 39239BR Position Description Provides professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients. Renders medical judgment regarding care provided to inmates assigned to the unit. Works under general direction of the Unit Medical Director, with wide latitude to exercise initiative and independent judgment. Directly supervises 2 to 4 Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners in the unit health services. Works under the general direction of the Associate Vice President and Managed Care Medical Officer of Managed Care with wide latitude to exercise initiative and independent judgment. Receives general supervision from the Associate Vice President and Managed Care Medical Officer. Work is performed in a correctional institution and in contact with inmates. Additionally, work requires collaboration with the faculty and staff at TTUHSC. Major/Essential Functions This Hematology/Oncology physician will provide onsite coverage at TDCJ Correctional facilities throughout the sector and will be responsible for the following:

Required Qualifications Current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners; current Drug Enforcement Agency and Texas Department of Public Safety controlled substances registration certificates.
