Organizational Unit Overview |
The Department of Parking and Transportation Services is an auxiliary service of East Carolina University. The department is within the Division of Administration and Finance and reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Campus Safety and Auxiliary Services. The department is responsible for the registration and identification of all vehicles operated by staff, faculty, students and visitors who utilize University Parking facilities. The department is also responsible for enforcement of the
ECU Parking and Traffic Ordinance, and for collection of parking fines incurred when violations of the regulations occur. This represents the issuance of approximately 50,000 parking violations per year, registration and identification of 30,000 vehicles, and a collection of over $2.5 million in fees and fines. The department is responsible for the maintenance of all campus parking facilities, equipment and vehicles under their jurisdiction. This includes over 13,000 parking spaces, 200 individual and multiple spaces meters. The department coordinates and directs all parking and traffic associated with special events. |
Job Duties |
The Parking Control Officer (
PCO) serves as the enforcement arm of the Department of Parking and Transportation Services. The purpose of this position is to legally enforce the
ECU Parking and Traffic Regulations and maintain parking lots and equipment. Work involves enforcement of state laws and university regulations related to parking and traffic. |
Minimum Education/Experience |
High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require valid N.C. driver's license. |
