- Estimated annual base pay: $121,200 (minimum) - $151,500 (midpoint) - $181,800 (maximum)

If you're a Quality Engineer III, we have an exciting opportunity for you. This position reports directly to the Quality Leader and is responsible for providing a high level of customer and organizational support for quality & regulatory requirements, compliance and system and process improvements. This position leads root cause and corrective action across multiple functions as well as drives the use of Six Sigma principles, methods, and tools. This position also mentor's other quality engineers and other Woodward functions. Investigates, recommends, and leads CI initiatives across the organization. This position requires minimal supervision with a high level of independent work.
What You Will Be Doing
- Drives a strategic mindset and commitment to continuous improvement across the operation (i.e. defines improvement goals, establishes accountability through SQDRC metrics, uses Lean/Six Sigma tools and techniques to continually improve processes and business results, and establishes a mindset within operations to document and control processes; promotes safety and housekeeping; uses facilitative leadership).
- Assembles, analyzes, and monitors appropriate company and customer metrics and implements improvements for the performance of Quality.
- Leads and mentors advance quality planning processes. Examples include Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)/First Article Inspection (FAI), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) processes.
- Acts as the customer liaison/advocate for Woodward compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction relative to quality of products and services.
- Responsible for identifying and driving resolution to systemic issues within the organization.
- Accountable for quality related activities associated with the nonconforming material control process.
- Leads internal/external audits (regulatory and/or customer). Provides mentoring to functional owners for RCCA on findings. Accountable for ensuring all corrective actions are closed on time.
- Leads, guides, and implements new problem-solving activities, and ensures the robustness of root cause and corrective action analysis (RCCA) when necessary.
What We Are Looking For
- US - bachelor's degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) Bachelors (or international equivalent) degree is required. Degree in a related technical field is preferred. Required.
- 5+ years Minimum 7 years of quality, engineering, machine shop, assembly or functional testing experience required. Required.
- 5+ years Minimum 7 years of Quality Management Systems experience, including experience related to document management, internal and/or external audits, nonconforming material control, and root cause and corrective action processes, is required. Required.
- Demonstrates excellent computer skills (expert level) including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Knowledge of MS Project and Visio a plus. Preferred.
- Licenses and certificates: Green Belt or Black Belt certified (or equivalent CI/RCCA certification) required.
Lead auditor certification is preferred.
A nationally recognized quality certification is required [e.g., American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ[1]CQE), Lead Auditor, etc. required.
- Communicates and operates effectively within Woodward's organizational structure and with customers and suppliers. Helps to improve information systems, processes, and products.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of and strong ability to drive Root Cause Corrective Action concepts/processes, including the 8D process, and is able to lead the RCCA process. Accountable for ensuring the robustness of corrective action for problems.
- Demonstrates expert organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (including presentations). Writes and presents standard technical reports to peers, management, and customers. Able to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Able to lead and manage multiple tasks with varying priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Demonstrates ability to effectively lead teams across multiple functional areas, and work with various levels within the organization, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to complete company goal/tasks in a timely manner, and at times, work under aggressive schedules.
- Demonstrates ability to understand and teach interpretation of engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or electrical schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrates an expert knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, and TS16949 requirements (site specific) and their intent to keep and improve the Quality Management System. Demonstrates a high degree of competency to capture important data, analyze data and report appropriate conclusions; able to identify and address the critical few from the trivial many.
- 10% Some domestic and/or international travel, as required.
