DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Drug & Alcohol Case Management Specialist, you will thoroughly screen and assess clients' needs to determine the level of care required based on placement guidelines, in addition to coordinating access to treatment services. This professional is also responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive service plan to include case management follow-up. You will monitor the treatment progress of clients, keeping detailed progress notes and written reports, and serve as an advocate for clients with other agencies or organizations in order to maximize the clients' benefits. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be conducting interviews and building a rapport with clients to efficiently and effectively meet their needs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, however you will be required to report to the office 4 days per week. Telework schedule is subject to change based upon agency needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Dependency, Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing or a related field; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Schuylkill, Sullivan, and Wyoming counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
